Intraoperative Acute Reversible Clouding of Hydrophilic Acrylic Intraocular Lenses: A Case Series and in vitro Experimental Test
Abstract
Key Clinical MessageHydrophilic acrylic IOLs are vulnerable and may develop acute intraoperative clouding due to drastic temperature changes, so sudden temperature fluctuations should be avoided. If the acute clouding is happened due to thermal shock, requires no explantation, this resolves spontaneously within hours, and doesn't impair long-term visual outcomes.
