Abstract

Abstract content goes heretime which guarantees quick detection and notification that is very important in the “golden hour” after an accident. The use of already installed surveillance systems and visual observation leads to a system that is not only scalable but also a smart city–ready solution that can be easily added to the current traffic control platforms. The framework is aimed at being very practical, cheap, and easily adaptable to various road settings without the need for huge hardware modifications. The system’s assessment does not solely rely on detection accuracy but is additionally conceptualized by key performance indicators that are significant for the emergency response, like detection delay, false alert rate, and the possible enhancement in response time that is compared to the manual reporting systems. The suggested procedure seeks to give a better view of the situation to the traffic authorities and emergency responders and in effect, bring about a reduction in the severity of accidents and a better road safety outcome. This study, in a nutshell, shows the possibility and efficiency of a real-time, camera-based accident detection and automated emergency alert system. The proposed framework, by connecting traffic surveillance and emergency response, leaves a significant mark on the path to intelligent transportation systems and safer smart city environments.
