Abstract

The Standard Model treats particles as dimensionless points. This produces infinite energy at their centers, a problem managed, but never solved, by renormalization. This paper proposes a replacement. We postulate that spacetime is not empty. It is a dense quantum superfluid, the Spacetime Energy Field (SEF), with a measurable energy density ρ 0 and elastic stiffness T. The speed of light emerges as a wave speed in this medium: c = T /ρ 0. Gravity is a pressure gradient created by energy concentrations within it. Matter, in this framework, is not deposited into space. It is a knot in space a stable, three-dimensional vortex called a Hopfion, locked into existence by topology. Because it has a finite core radius r 0 > 0, the energy singularity disappears. No renormalization is needed. Mass, spin, and electric charge are shown to be three geometric properties of a single structure: the stored energy, the topological connectivity, and the handedness of the twist, respectively. As the Hopfion moves, it generates a physical wake in the SEF, what we measure as the wave function. This knot-and-wake coupling provides a deterministic, mechanical account of wave-particle duality, the double-slit experiment, and the observer effect. Three falsifiable predictions are made: a toroidal electron structure at 10 −20 m scales, a wake re-seeding mechanism for quantum tunneling, and a measurable field inflow toward massive bodies. Note: This paper presents the theoretical postulates, conceptual structure, and predictions of the Geometric Theory of Matter as a research framework proposal. The full formal mathematical derivations are currently under development and will be presented in subsequent work.
