Abstract

Introduction : Conference presentations facilitate rapid dissemination of scientific findings, yet many never progress to peer-reviewed publication. Across medical subspecialties, only 33% to 60% of abstracts reach full publication, raising concerns regarding incomplete dissemination and publication bias,[1-3](#ref-0001) however, minimal attention has been given to specific study characteristics that predict successful publication. This study therefore examined features of Oral Communications presented at the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ISUOG) World Congress that were associated with subsequent publication and determined overall publication rates and timing. Methods: This was a retrospective observational study of all Oral Communications (OCs) presented at the ISUOG World Congress from 2017 to 2019. Publication status was assessed within five years of presentation using PubMed and Google Scholar searches. An OC was considered published if a peer-reviewed manuscript with concordant study design and overlapping authorship was identified. The primary outcome was the identification of study characteristics associated with subsequent publication.
