Abstract

The Dynamic Eclipse Broadcast (DEB) Initiative trained 82 volunteer science observation teams across North America to capture coronal and partial solar disk imagery during the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse. These teams also engaged in public outreach, sharing real-time images and eclipse science through both online and in-person events. Insights gained from the 2024 eclipse—ranging from technical challenges to public engagement strategies—are now guiding improvements to our training and observation protocols. These outcomes will support the next phase of the project including international team recruitment and deployment for the August 2, 2027 total solar eclipse over North Africa. This presentation will share key findings from the 2024 experience and describe how they are shaping the DEB Initiative’s evolving participatory science approach to solar observation and education.
