Towards a Metacognitive Perspective on Climate Misinformation
Abstract
Climate misinformation does not only distort what people believe about climate change—it reshapes how confident they feel about those beliefs. By targeting the psychological cues people use to judge whether a claim is likely to be true, misinformation can weaken the link between knowledge and action even when factual understanding is relatively high.
