Roles of ACE-I or ARNI in right ventricular systolic function in heart failure with reduced LVEF: a cohort prospective study
Abstract
BACKGROUND: Research regarding the effectiveness of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE-I) and angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitors (ARNI) administration as correlated with right ventricular systolic function in heart failure reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) is still minimal.METHODS: A prospective cohort study design was conducted to assess differences in right ventricular ejection fraction (RVEF) on eligible HFrEF patients receiving ARNI or ACE-I for three months. The RVEF was measured by the tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE), fractional area changes (FAC), and tricuspid lateral annular systolic velocity (S’) parameters on echocardiography examination.RESULTS: Of 55 people (27 on ACE-I group and 28 on ARNI group, both cohorts demonstrated a statistically significant enhancement in the strain (S’) value (ACE-I: 9.60 [4.00-12.20] vs. 10.50 [8.50-13.00], P=0.001; ARNI: 8.90 [7.70-11.80] vs. 10.70 [7.80-13.780], P
