El Proyecto de Juan Rafael Allende hacia el mundo popular visto a través del periódico “El Recluta”: Representaciones y contradicciones durante la Guerra Civil Chilena de 1891
Abstract
This article seeks to analyze the project of popular journalist and satirist Juan Rafael Allende during the Chilean Civil War of 1891, through the representations of the popular world captured in the newspaper El Recluta (Santiago, 1891). Using an intellectual history approach, considering the directions and exclusions of the plebeian public sphere in 1891, the author's context and intellectual trajectory are first characterized. Subsequently, the contradictions between Rafael Allende's collective representations and the popular sectors during that period are identified through the newspaper. The thesis is that Rafael Allende's project through El Recluta was oriented toward a worker-democratic representation of the popular world, excluding the popular sectors located on the peripheral margins of the plebeian public space.
