Abstract

The objective of this research was to use descriptive statistics and qualitative modeling to analyze the records of the 2017 Agricultural Census and characterize the technological level of rural establishments in the state of Rondônia. The methodology consisted of evaluating 20 variables related to infrastructure and innovation in the 52 municipalities, enabling the calculation of the Technological Index of Agricultural Establishments (ITEA) and classification by intermediate geographic regions. The results revealed a dual pattern of development: high adherence to basic sanitary practices was observed throughout the state, contrasting with the low and uneven adoption of Agriculture 4.0 vectors, such as internet access and mechanization. Spatially, the intermediate region of Ji-Paraná showed higher levels of modernization than the Porto Velho region, with the municipality of Pimenteiras do Oeste achieving the highest technological index in the state. It can be concluded that this characterization acts as a strategic map of needs, indicating that public policies and rural credit should be specifically directed to the microregions with the greatest deficiencies in order to promote more balanced productive development.
