Abstract

In Beyond 5G and 6G, metasurface reflectors that control reflection direction are promising for reducing coverage holes. In conventional configuration, reflection phase is adjusted by element size, however it is sensitive to fabrication errors. In this paper a new design configuration that the element size is fixed and the reflection phase is controlled by arranging short posts (SPs), then reducing error sensitivity. Using FDTD analysis, an optimal dielectric thickness that achieves a 360degrees phase range and high reflection intensity is found. The simulation results show that the main beam is formed at the target direction of 30 degrees with intensity of −2.1dB.
