A 2.1 $\mu$A 1.65V-to-5 V Supply 10 ppm/$^{\circ }$C Bandgap Reference With Source-Degenerated Piecewise Curvature Compensation
Abstract
In this work, we present a low-power and wide-supply-range bandgap reference (BGR) with piecewise curvature compensation technique to improve its temperature stability. Additionally, a source degeneration technique is proposed to mitigate the temperature coefficient (TC) of the BGR due to the process mismatch in the current mirror. Furthermore, a CMOS-Voltage Reference assisted start-up circuit is proposed to ensure that the BGR can reliably operate across a wide supply voltage range. The BGR is fabricated in a 0.18$\mu$m BCD technology, occupying a chip area of 0.0716mm$^{2}$. Experimental results demonstrate a 1V output reference with a current consumption of 2.1$\mu$A. The reference voltage exhibits a line sensitivity of 0.036%/V from 1.65V to 5V. The measured TC is 10ppm/$^{\circ }$C over the temperature range from -40$^{\circ }$C to 125$^{\circ }$C.
