Abstract

It is our great pleasure to have a Special Section entitled “Special Section on Renewable Energy Research and Applications in Conjunction with ICRERA2024 Nagasaki” in the IEICE Transactions on Communications. Currently, Japan is facing many challenges such as a major transition to green energy, the revitalization of the semiconductor industry, and a shift from gasoline-powered cars to EVs, making it essential to introduce renewable energy into the information and communications field. Development of digital technology to support these issues is also desired. Because of such reasons, we planned the launch of this special issue to further advance research and development in future information and communication energy technologies. In November 2024, the International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Applications (ICRERA2024) was held in Nagasaki, JAPAN. This special issue was planned in conjunction with the conference. As a result, five papers were submitted by conference contributors, and three were accepted for publication.
