Abstract

Digital rights are part of the system of objects of civil rights provided for in the classification as a type of other property, including property rights. Concurrently, civil law recognizes digital rights as obligatory and other rights stipulated as such by law and provisioned and disseminated in an information system conforming to legally defined attributes. This dichotomy of digital rights in the Civil Code of the Russian Federation indicates an in-consistent legislative approach to regulating the digital asset market. The aforementioned ambiguity cannot positively influence digital civil turnover. The study examines the proposition to grant digital rights the status of a universal asset, possessing value for subjects of civil turnover precisely as a digital object. It is emphasized that particular attention is paid to the need for a unified and clear definition of digital rights to facilitate their effective integration into the civil law framework.
