Del riesgo a la reflexión Un programa socioeducativo para el empoderamiento de jóvenes en situación de vulnerabilidad desde los Escenarios Futuros
Abstract
This educational experience describes a socio-educational intervention carried out at the Second Chance School of the Don Bosco Foundation (Málaga), aimed at young people who have dropped out of the education system prematurely and are seeking to re-enter educational and 45 personal pathways oriented toward their holistic development. The project arises from the need to offer innovative pedagogical alternatives that foster motivation, self-esteem, and social inclusion among young people. The socio-educational intervention is grounded in the Futures Thinking methodology applied to education, which promotes anticipation, creativity, and the ability to imagine, plan, and collectively build possible futures through reflection on present decisions. This approach is complemented by other methodologies such as cooperative learning, critical reflection, problem-based learning, and gamification. Through six group-based activities implemented over a three-week period, personal and social competencies were developed that enhanced participants’ self-confidence, resilience, and life planning. Program evaluation was conducted using several tools: a Likert-scale questionnaire (0–5) administered to participants and the teaching team, and semi-structured interviews with professionals and participants. The results showed improvements in participants’ motivation and self-esteem, as well as increased participation and group cohesion. This experience demonstrates that Social Education, by integrating prospective and participatory methodologies, can become a driver of personal and community transformation. Its effectiveness lies in promoting reflective processes in which young people recognize themselves as protagonists of their own future. Furthermore, it is a proposal that can be easily transferred to other educational and social contexts, especially in programs aimed at preventing school dropout and initiatives designed to promote inclusion in environments where social exclusion is a prevailing reality.
