Abstract

n this recording, the speaker explains a bird-hunting technique used by the tribe. The activity is carried out by teams of two or three people, who remain inside a bird house (a hunting blind). One team member imitates the call of a bird in order to attract birds close enough to be shot. As birds approach the bird house, their presence attracts additional birds, which further facilitates the hunting activity. The speaker notes that Birds of Paradise are commonly hunted, although other bird species are also hunted. The transcription and translation of this recording will soon be provided.
