Abstract

Laparoscopic surgery has become an integral part of modern gynecology due to its numerous advantages, including minimal trauma, shorter hospital stays, and faster patient recovery. However, like any surgical procedure, laparoscopy carries the risk of intra- and post-operative complications. One specific risk associated with the use of electrosurgical equipment (monopolar or bipolar cautery) is the potential for electrothermal burns outside the surgical field. While this complication is rare, it can have serious consequences, prolong treatment times, and lead to legal disputes. This article describes a clinical case of an electric burn in a patient who underwent a routine gynecological laparoscopy.
