Analysis and optimization of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor characteristic with composite magnetic slot wedge
Abstract
To suppress cogging force and thrust ripple, a novel composite magnetic slotwedge composed of hard and soft magnetic materials is proposed. A finite element modelof a fractional-slot permanent magnet linear synchronous motor is established. First, theeffects of non-magnetic, hard magnetic, and soft magnetic slot wedges on electromagneticcharacteristics – specifically cogging force and thrust ripple – are compared and analyzed.Subsequently, the composite magnetic slot wedge structure is optimized to determine theideal material proportion. Finally, the performance of the proposed composite magnetic slotwedge is compared with existing composite slot wedges made of magnetic and non-magneticmaterials. The results indicate that the proposed composite magnetic slot wedge providessuperior comprehensive optimization of motor performance.
