Abstract

In light of the requirements of the Code Ocean, all uploaded code must run successfully without errors. However, this study involves time-consuming large-scale regional APSIM simulations, so only the key parts of the code have been uploaded. The complete code for this study can be found on GitHub (https://github.com/Supercola07/Crop_residue_cover.git). Our results can be reproduced when following the described methods and data. We can provide technical help if readers are interested. The climate and soil data driving APSIM are publicly available. The soil data were obtained from Shangguan et al. (2013) and Dai et al. (2013). Historical climate data were publicly available from the China Meteorological Data Center (https://data.cma.cn/). Original CMIP6 data were obtained from https://pcmdi.llnl.gov/CMIP6/, and daily downscaled climate data were generated using a downscaling method (Liu and Zuo, 2012). Simulated results including maize yield and all other processed data for making figures and tables are available from the corresponding author on request.
