Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Busy board media in improving sitting endurance of a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder during the learning process. Sitting endurance is an essential prerequisite for maintaining attention and participation in classroom activities, yet many students with Autism Spectrum Disorder experience difficulties in sustaining a seated position due to behavioral and sensory regulation challenges. This research employed a quantitative approach using a Single Subject Research design with an A–B–A format, consisting of an initial baseline, an intervention phase, and a final baseline. The participant was a nine-year-old female student with Autism Spectrum Disorder enrolled in the third grade of a special school in Merangin Regency. Data were collected through direct observation by measuring the duration of the student’s sitting endurance during learning activities. The data were analyzed using visual graphical analysis to identify changes in behavioral patterns across research phases. The findings indicated a clear increase in sitting endurance during the intervention phase compared to the initial baseline. Furthermore, the improvement was maintained during the final baseline even after the intervention was withdrawn. These results demonstrate that Busy board media effectively supports behavioral regulation and helps improve sitting endurance in students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Therefore, Busy board can be considered an effective learning medium to enhance classroom readiness and learning engagement for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
