Abstract

This study analyses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the integration of EU countries into global value chains (GVC) and its relationship with microeconomic performance (GOS).The evolution of GVC and GOS during the period 2017-2023 confirms the temporary nature of the shock, indicating a certain degree of resilience at the EU level, which is not observed in all member states. The analysis by country and economic sector using mobility indices highlights the relative structural stability of the GVC.A comparative analysis of the resilience of countries using GVC and GOS reveals certain similarities for a large part of the EU states, which confirms a strong link between the two indicators, exclusively in economies with high resilience from the perspective of GVC (R² = 0.65-0.71).
