Abstract

Diacetoxyiodo)benzene (PhI(OCOCH3)₂), (DAIB or DIB) also known as phenyliodine(III) diacetate (PIDA) or iodobenzene diacetate (IBD) stands as one of the most versatile and widely employed hypervalent iodine reagents in organic synthesis.Renowned for its strong oxidizing properties, PIDA has become a cornerstone in modern methodology, extending far beyond its established utility to play a pivotal role in heterocyclic ring construction. This review focuses specifically on its role in synthetic methodologies that enable the construction of nitrogen-containing heterocyclic rings, providing a critical and comprehensive analysis of advances reported from 2013 to till date.
