Production and Marketing Logistics in a Canned Food Company. Manta
Abstract
Objective: To propose strategies to increase the productive capacity for and improve its competitiveness and export level in a canned food Company. Manta Theoretical Framework: Production and distribution approaches are presented with a logistics focus for industrial development, emphasizing process management and the analysis of productive capacity and the level of satisfaction of the company's employees. Method: Through a mixed qualitative and quantitative methodology, customer surveys were conducted, an instrument was applied to determine the level of satisfaction of employees and the calculation of productive capacity and its use. Findings and conclusions: The results indicated a high level of satisfaction of customers and employees. The analysis of productive capacity revealed an underutilization of this, since only 700 boxes of tuna are processed daily, despite the capacity being 1,500 boxes. The main causes are the lack of orders, inadequate equipment, insufficient training, and inefficient logistic processes. Among the improvement proposals, the implementation of rotating shifts, the expansion of markets, training and the acquisition of new machinery to optimize production stand out. Originality/Value: For the first time, research is being carried out in the industrial sector of the region with a logistics focus aimed at increasing competitiveness and the level of exports. The work is original with theoretical value because of a research process by professors and students at the Technical University of Manabí.
