Aesthetic and Poetic Perceptions of Leisure Spaces in Nature in Guajará-Mirim/RO: an Analysis in Cultural and Humanistic Geography
Abstract
Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the aesthetic and poetic perceptions of leisure spaces in nature in Guajará-Mirim/RO, analyzing how individuals attribute cultural, symbolic, and affective meanings to these environments. Theoretical Framework: This section presents the main concepts and theories that underpin the research. It is based on cultural and humanistic geographies, engaging with the phenomenology of Anne Buttimer, the poetics of space of Gaston Bachelard, and the contributions of Marandola Jr., Kozel, and Silva, who emphasize subjectivity, imagination, and aesthetic sensitivity in the society-nature relationship, providing a solid foundation for understanding the context of the investigation. Method: The qualitative, exploratory, and phenomenological method prioritized lived experience. Data collected through bibliography, observation, and semi-structured interviews with six participants were analyzed using phenomenological interpretation and discourse analysis. Results and Discussion: The results indicated that leisure spaces are seen as places of belonging, memory, and aesthetics, strengthening sociocultural ties, despite infrastructure problems. The discussion highlights the importance of environmental and cultural management to preserve the socio-environmental quality of these spaces. Research Implications: The implications of the study contribute to Cultural and Humanistic Geography, as well as areas such as urban planning, environmental management, leisure, and cultural appreciation, offering subsidies for public policies and socio-environmental preservation practices. Originality/Value: The originality and value of the study lie in revealing aesthetic and poetic dimensions of the Amazon region, deepening society-nature relations and integrating affective aspects of leisure into conservation strategies.
