Abstract

Background: In brachytherapy for skin cancer and queloids scars, radiative sources are placed into a material called mold and this over patients' surface in order to irradiate a determinate lesion. Objective: To evaluate materials which molds are made in our hospital, to determinate if these are equivalents to the human tissue or to get a correction factor for prescribed dose in other case.Method: An observational, prospective, transversal study of qualitative kind investigation, which agrees SRQR guides, in which we got percentages deep doses (PDD) and doses for an equivalent to water phantom. We build acrylic, wax and thermoplastic material phantoms, for to get equivalences and the corrections factor if it would be necessary results: We got a good agreement in PDPs and doses measures value among water equivalent phantom, planning system with acrylic and wax measures conclusion: We consider appropriate to use acrylic and wax for this type of treatment although it was not the case with our thermoplastic mold.
