An approach to the integrated assessment of the production component of the development potential of small and medium-sized enterprises is proposed. Conclusions. The reduction in the number of legal entities in the field of small and medium-sized businesses and the number of their employees is a signal of increasing barriers to development. The high level of differentiation of the Far Eastern regions in terms of the production component of the development potential of small and medium-sized enterprises reduces its sustainability. An integrated assessment of the production component of the development potential of small and medium-sized enterprises indicates that small and medium-sized enterprises in the Far Eastern Federal District are lagging behind the average level in Russia. Regional policy measures are needed to stimulate small and medium-sized businesses in outsider regions, increase their attractiveness for investment and innovation, and create competitive conditions in the Far East.
