Abstract

Contemporary Russian society is characterized by systemic structural shifts, the assessment of which requires insufficient statistical data. When conducting a comprehensive analysis, indicators measuring citizens' subjective perceptions of ongoing changes acquire increasing diagnostic value. This article aims to identify and characterize the main trends in the socioeconomic agenda since the 2000s and their relationship with the social well-being index, an integrated indicator reflecting citizens' subjective perceptions of their current material well-being, satisfaction with various aspects of life, and expectations for the future. Based on an analysis of statistical data, the results of monitoring surveys, and expert interviews, the key trends, threats, and challenges in the region's socioeconomic development, as well as the key indicators characterizing the social well-being of the population, were identified. It was established that, in the context of structural transformations in contemporary Russian society, the social well-being index serves as a "barometer" reflecting the nature of trends in the socioeconomic agenda and the effectiveness of state socioeconomic policy.
