Abstract

Faba bean (Vicia faba L.) is a high value crop in Ethiopia and it has a versatile use. Faba bean breeding program concentrates on three major traits (seed yield, seed size and disease resistance). Twenty-one faba bean genotypes were evaluated at Fogera National Rice Research and Training Center, in Debre Tabor research station for two consecutive seasons during 2023 and 2024 under rain fed conditions using a randomized complete block design with four replications. The objective of the study was to select and recommend the best performed faba bean genotypes in the study area. The data on days to 50% flowering, days to 90% maturity, chocolate spot, plant height, number of pod per plant, number of seeds per pod, 1000- seeds weight and seed yield per hectare were collected and subjected to analysis of variance using R- software. The combined analyses of variance revealed a significant difference (P
