Abstract

The current reforms in the healthcare sector, in particular the Hospital Care Improvement Act and the digitisation laws, aim to make care more efficient and of higher quality through more intensive use of data. The Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information is caught between the conflicting priorities of protecting highly sensitive health data and enabling innovation. In the cover interview with "Monitor Versorgungsforschung", Prof. Dr. Louisa Specht-Riemenschneider talks about the "BfDI perspective: data protection that does justice to innovation and patient centricity".
