La sabiduría de los fütakeche desde las voces de trabajadoras(es) sociales mapuche para territorializar el ejercicio profesional en Chile
Abstract
This article explores the contextual and territorialized wisdom of the fütakeche (Mapuche elders) in the training and professional practice of social work in Wallmapu (Mapuche territory). The main objective was to explore how this ancestral knowledge can inform ethical and respectful professional practice within a specific context. The central research questions were: How do Mapuche social workers perceive the influence of fütakeche wisdom on their training and professional practice? What implications does this wisdom have for transforming social work training and practice in Mapuche contexts? The methodology used an indigenous design. Nütram (conversation) was the main method of data collection with Mapuche social workers who integrate Mapuche kimün into their work. Data were analyzed using dungun (speech) tracking and thematic coding based on pünontuchefe (Mapuche community service methodology). The results showed the validation of ancestral kimün as equivalent to academic knowledge. They highlighted the central role of territorial identity and küpalme (lineage) in professional practice. Community mediation is essential to accessing fütakeche knowledge. Lineage and family memory are seen as valuable epistemologies. These findings suggest a need to transform social work training by integrating values from Mapuche kimün and adopting a situated, decolonizing approach in professional practice.
