Abstract

A wall-modeled large-eddy simulation (WMLES) method on Cartesian grids for moving complex geometries is developed. To this end, the wall modeling on non-body-conforming grids established for stationary geometries is extended for the moving boundary problems. For the interpolation for the freshly emerged fluid cells, the bounded inverse distance weighting is used. The proposed WMLES approach is assessed for turbulent channel flows with streamwise traveling wavy walls, and the turbulence statistics including the velocity and Reynolds-shear- stress profiles are well predicted over the moving walls.
