Abstract

Clarification NoticeWhen discussing results from Fig. 4, it is noted that the flat plate performs better than both cavity geometries. This correction aims to clarify the results by illustrating and explaining flow behavior. The superior flat plate performance is due to the cavity geometries experiencing more non-uniform heating than in the case of the flat plate. This heating causes non-uniform deflection, leading to more distortion.Figure 1* shows the temperature of the flow, modeled with perfect gas, directly over the sensor window when viewed from above, with the freestream in the +x direction. The behavior trends are the same when thermochemistry is modeled.
