Abstract

The BOLT-1B single-stage sounding rocket was successfully launched from Andoya Space Center (ASC) in northern Norway on September 2nd, 2024. The main research objective of the BOLT-1B mission was the experimental investigation of hypersonic boundary layer transition mechanisms during a hypersonic flight. This paper serves to give an overview over the control and navigation system onboard the vehicle, give insight into design aspects and evaluate its performance during the flight using selected flight dynamic characteristics.
