WITHDRAWN: The Effect of Turbulent Mixing the Combustion Efficiency; Computational Studies Using LES
Abstract
Turbulent mixing is encountered in various combustion processes, and it defines the combustion efficiency. Therefore, the ability to control turbulent mixing would enhance combustion efficiency. However, the turbulent mixing and parameters that impact it are not well understood and thus, it requires further studies. Therefore, in the present research the turbulent mixing of reacting flows is computationally studied for high-Reynolds number flows, Re = 1.2x106. The studies are carried out using the large-eddy simulation approach. The goal of the present research is to understand the entrainment, stirring and molecular mixing as well as the parameters affecting these stages of turbulent mixing. The study shows that the fluids mixing enhances the mixing rate and the rate of production. An increase in temperature, with the increase of the production rate of the products, is also observed. An increase in turbulence kinetic energy is observed with the increase of mixing rate.
