Characterization of Solid Particle Reactivity Through Shock Driven Autoignition
Abstract
A fundamental understanding of the reactivity of solid particles such as lithium, aluminum, zinc, and zirconium is required to understand the ignition mechanisms of solid-state batteries. Explosions initiated by reactive solid particles have varying size distributions and are often coupled to a shock wave. To examine this process, an experimental study is presented on shock driven autoignition of reactive micro-particles to quantify solid particle reactivity.
