Drishti: An Intelligent Assistant for Continuous Compliance
Abstract
NASA missions are increasing in complexity due to the need for more advanced capabilities to explore deeper into space, navigate challenging environments, and handle progressively more complex tasks. This complexity extends to the development and operation of these missions, leading to increased workload for project managers (PMs) to coordinate with diverse system and subsystem teams—from planning and execution to monitoring progress and ensuring successful completion within budget and schedule. Drishti aims to help PMs prepare for mission reviews throughout the certification process and ensure that the project is aligned with NASA goals and objectives. Drishti is a review-driven project management tool with a web dashboard to help NASA space flight PMs and systems engineers (SEs) stay on top of project deliverables, risks, upcoming assessments and reviews, and actionable tasks created during reviews for post-review action requests. Although Drishti currently focuses on space flight missions, it can be used for projects in other domains. Drishti is enabled with built-in AI capabilities as an option for semantic search over ingested project documents. In this paper, we give an overview of the certification process for NASA space flight projects, discuss the Drishti tool and architecture, a case study we conducted with our partnership with the Lunar Explorer Instrument for space biology Applications (LEIA) mission at the NASA Ames Research Center (ARC), and finally our conclusion and future work.
