Passive Attitude Control of Dust Particles for Active Debris Removal
Abstract
The deployment of micron-sized dust particles for the active removal of small-scale orbital debris (ranging from 1 mm to 1 cm) calls for the development of accurate attitude dynamics models. Such models must account for the dominant environmental torques acting on design-specific micro particles. This study presents the development of a simulation framework aimed at investigating passive attitude stabilization mechanisms for dust particles. The primary objective is to analyze the influence of environmental torques on rotational dynamics in relation to engineered particle properties.
