Abstract

The main obstacle to autonomous navigation operations for large UAS in civil airspace is the lack of safe and reliable automatic taxiing, takeoff, and landing. The SurfNav4UAS project aims at addressing the challenges of automatic taxiing, with a specific focus on developing safe, scalable, and seamless navigation methods that meet the unique accuracy, integrity, and continuity requirements of automatic surface operations. This work outlines the methodology for defining navigation requirements.
