Nonlinear Dynamics Inversion (NDI) Control For Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) Vehicles In Transition Flight
Abstract
This work focuses on the problem of transition flight for eVTOL aircraft. The hybrid multi-rotor and fixed-wing flight regime requires a combination of both flight dynamics models and is further complicated by aerodynamic interactions between multiple rotors and fuselage at low airspeed. The Nonlinear Dynamics Inversion (NDI) based controller is implemented to address transition control where it exhibits high angle of attack and rotor/fuselage aerodynamic interactions. An example of a case study illustrates the promising feature of the proposed design and development.
