Abstract

This paper is one of several in a special session on Dyreqt, a framework built up over the past ten years at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center for the multidisciplinary design, analysis, and optimization (MDAO) of space system architectures. This paper reviews different case studies of already-completed efforts to convey the breadth of Dyreqt's capability. Some of these case studies have published papers; more details will be provided for various unpublished internal NASA studies. The flexible MDAO structure used in Dyreqt facilitates the scalable modeling of complex space system architectures with a large number of components and connections, with a solver throughput that allows for conceptual design, large analysis of alternatives, and sensitivity analysis at multiple levels of the architecture. Other analyses and disciplinary results can be used in tandem with Dyreqt to include launch vehicle performance and analysis, and detailed mission definitions with gravity losses, higher fidelity burn models, and intermediate orbit transfers.
