Abstract

The AIAA Digital Engineering Integration Committee Subcommittee on Computational Design and Analysis for Digital Engineering (DEIC-CoDADE) launched a survey to assess the implementation of digital engineering and promote the responsible use of computational design and analysis. This survey was fielded between October 30th, 2024, and November 21st, 2024, reaching members of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) community as well as partner organizations, such as the International Association for the Engineering Modelling, Analysis and Simulation Community (NAFEMS), the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), and the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE). The survey yielded statistically significant responses from a variety of organizations, diverse in size, alignment, and workforce experience. Collectively, these respondents reported several common high-value challenges that warrant further study and resolution. This paper discusses the challenges identified by the respondents, provides additional context where needed, and offers, as reported by the respondents themselves, recommendations for resolving these high-value challenges.
