Abstract

A numerical study using COMSOL was conducted to simulate the flow inside the constrictor of the arc-heated wind tunnel at the Technion. Such high-enthalpy wind tunnels are usually used for testing thermal protection systems. To better understand the flow around a test article, it is important to gain knowledge on the flow parameters before the converging-diverging nozzle. In this simulation the current, inlet flow rate, and upstream pressure, are used as inputs from experimentally obtained values, and the resulting calculated voltage is compared to the measured one.
