Abstract

Composition of D60 solvent as an RP-1 alternative has been identified using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), which suggests a formulation of RP-1 surrogate mixture of 70% n-tridecane, 20% decalin and 10% n-butyl cyclohexane. A detailed chemical kinetic mechanism of 745 species and 3634 reactions has been developed for this three-component surrogate, and validated against ignition delay measurements over a temperature range of 830-1300 K, at equivalence ratio of 0.5-1.0 and pressure of 10-20 atm. Further validations in terms of species profiles in a jet-stirred reactor (JSR) are also carried out at pressure of 1-20 atm, showing good agreement versus experimental data.
