The Turbulence Kinetic Energy Budget of a Slender Delta Wing With Trailing Edge Jets Using Volumetric PIV
Abstract
The turbulence kinetic energy (TKE) budget of a slender delta wing with a sweep angle of 80° was investigated using volumetric Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). Flow field measurements were made at a 45° angle of attack and a Reynolds number of 36,500 with and without trailing edge jets. The study specifically examined the contributions of turbulence kinetic energy convection, production, diffusion, viscous diffusion, and viscous dissipation along the vortex cores.
