Abstract

An implementation of a high-order discontinuous Galerkin (DG) solver for Large Eddy Simulation (LES) is presented. For time integration an explicit forward scheme is used. The localized stencil of the DG method with its high arithmetic intensity allows efficient use of the GPU compute power. Several canonical as well as more challenging validation examples for LES are presented to provide an overview of the solver’s accuracy. The computational efficiency of the method is evaluated and compared to state-of-the-art Finite-Volume as well as higher order methods.
