Recent Advancements in Third-Order Edge-Based Scheme for Anisotropic Adaptive Meshes
Abstract
In this paper, we explore new advancements in the use of the third-order edge-based Euler solver with implicit edge-based gradient method for anisotropic metric-based mesh adaptations. The effect of boundary treatment, namely the accuracy of geometrical normals in a slip boundary condition is analyzed. Inaccurate normals can lead not only to accuracy order degradation but also to non-physical artifacts. The use of stencil and edge limiters is considered for shock-dominated flows. Three two-dimensional test cases are considered: a subsonic flow over a smooth bump, a transonic flow and a supersonic flow past the NACA0012 airfoil.
