Abstract

This paper presents an overview of the wind tunnel test results conducted at the University of Washington’s Kirsten Wind Tunnel during 2024 for the final wind tunnel entry of the NASA-sponsored SCALOS studies. A total of 226 test runs were collected in a 2-week test campaign, expanding the configuration design space from past studies, including in-test parametric studies of wing, area-ruled fuselage, landing gears, high-lift devices, in-test modifications, and alternative leading edge concepts. The full test results and report were finalized and submitted to NASA, including full tested configurations, model components, component geometries, dimensions, run logs, photo log, etc. This paper presents final data for several selected configurations, focusing on the incremental effects of planform variations and control surfaces on aerodynamics. It adds to the data presented in past publications.
