Initial Aerothermal Characterization of a Tabletop Inductively Coupled Plasma Tunnel
Abstract
The first novel inductively coupled plasma tunnel facility built by the CU Magnetoaerodynamics and Aerospace Plasmas Laboratory, the ICP-2, provides a testbed for experimental techniques, instrument commissioning, and technology development for both independent research and to inform other laboratory facilities. An initial characterization of the aerothermal environment in the facility test section is presented. Plasma jet stagnation pressures range from 3 to 10 Torr (400 - 1300 Pa) at Mach numbers between 2.5 and 3.5. Plans for continuing work are detailed.
