Rudder to Bank Angle: Control and Effects for the Elimination of Ailerons on Fixed Wing Airframes
Abstract
Drones, specifically fixed wing, are used in multiple different roles; all of which are susceptible to the cost per airframe metric. When dealing with airframes capable of what is often called “swarming”, per unit cost becomes a more prevalent design challenge. Simplification of the airframe is the most effective way of reducing complexity and manufacturing cost per airframe. The idea of excluding ailerons for atypical roll control is proposed within this research project.
