Abstract

A problem is defined requiring high quality remote sensing data of a prescribed set of target locations, collected quickly without an operator controlling the vehicle, all while simultaneously not audibly alerting any known observers within the environment. An autonomous fixed wing Micro Air Vehicle installed with appropriate hardware and software can be utilized, but a flight path must be calculated quickly as the collection of the data must be expedited. Using onboard GPS and INS hardware to define initial and final configurations, and a database of the environmental obstacles and the locations of the remote sensing targets and listening observers, an algorithm is utilized to quickly produce a 3-dimensional flight path through the environment which satisfies all mission requirements.
