Genetic Algorithm Identification of Initial Orbits for Interplanetary and Earth-Moon Transfers
Abstract
Trajectory optimization plays a major role in mission planning as well as space mission control commands. Mission planning involves designing a trajectory for spacecraft to achieve certain objectives such as carrying out orbit maneuvers and rendezvous orbit missions, as well as carry out planetary impact missions and minimize the use of resources and avoid physical and functional constraint violation at the same time. For interplanetary missions, mission planning involves designing the trajectory of a spacecraft with the goal of carrying out missions to other planets based on the same principles of orbit maneuvers and rendezvous orbit missions and further planetary impact missions based on the same principles as mentioned above. All this requires a very reliable approach to trajectory design of spacecraft that previously had the capacity to address uncertainty in the space environment as well. By employing genetic algorithms to address trajectory optimization problems, spacecraft are capable of responding to environmental factors and address unexpected space environments as well.
